Gentle osteopathic care during pregnancy can ease common complaints such as lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain (PGP) and symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), helping expectant mothers stay comfortable and mobile through every trimester.

The clinic also treats neck pain, tension headaches, frozen shoulder, arthritis and hip and knee pain – the everyday musculoskeletal complaints that build up from desk work, driving, sport or simply getting older.

Cranial osteopathy is an especially gentle, hands-on treatment suitable from just days old. Avin sees a large number of newborns each week – from routine post-birth checks to babies who are unsettled or struggling to feed – as well as mothers recovering after birth. The techniques are subtle and safe, working with the body’s own ability to release tension and restore balance.

Back pain is the most common reason patients come to the Oakham clinic. Rather than simply masking symptoms, osteopathy targets the underlying cause – using gentle manipulation, stretching and soft-tissue work to ease muscle tension, free up restricted joints and improve circulation. The same approach helps with sciatica, where irritation of the sciatic nerve causes pain, tingling or weakness down the leg.

Oakham is a sporting town – home to Oakham RFC, Oakham Cricket Club and a busy schools sports scene – so sports injuries are a big part of the work here. If you are new to acupuncture, Avin will explain exactly what is involved before you begin, and treatment is always optional for anyone who would rather not have needles.

The clinic is at 6 Church Street, right in Oakham town centre, a short walk from the Market Place, Oakham Castle and the high-street shops and car parks. It is easy to reach from across Rutland and sits just off the main routes in from Uppingham, Stamford and Melton Mowbray.
